Five Things

Since 310 is upon me and I don't have time to write much...I'm just going to muse about five random things I've learned recently.

1. Wire-bike locks don't work. My graduation present from Dev Z was stolen, and now I am bikeless. It sucks. Nothing pisses me off more than stealing when it's obviously not a case of starvation.

2. Scenes with dead dogs should not be done with LIVE dogs. Eric and I have been working very well together on 310, and despite a few problem (blown circuit breakers...WHOOPS!), it's been a lot of fun. Very strenuous fun, but fun nonetheless. However the scene where my main actor has to cry over the dog was difficult, simply because it's a difficult, emotional scene ANYWAY, and the friggin' dog wouldn't stop moving. Hopefully we can fix it in the editing room.

3. Fire Island is a pretty sweet place. Living with good friends who are relatively clean and considerate is SOOOOO much better than last year.

4. My love life may be an absolute mess, but from what I've heard from certain people at parties and other things recently, it's not like it's any worse than anyone else's. We're all in a big love stinkhole.

5. I kinda look like a young Werner Herzog. That's cool I suppose.

Anyways, as always I must discuss a movie I saw. I actually saw this one a while ago, since I've been too busy to see any feature movies lately (sporadic episodes of "The X-Files" will have to do). So...

QUICK REVIEW OF TERRY GILLIAM'S "THE FISHER KING"

Overall I found it to be Gilliam's weakest that I've seen. Which is not to say it wasn't good. It had some beautiful photography (esp. Robin Williams' terrified visions), and winning performances, especially by Jeff Bridges, an actor I am starting to appreciate more and more as I get older. Overall though the film just felt very dis-jointed. However after watching it I gotta say...Gilliam is MEANT to make Don Quijote, since this was practically an excuse on Gilliam's part to take Don Quijote and have it take place in the present day. I wonder if "Lost in La Mancha" took place before this, and in all of his Don Q hysteria and anger he went and made "The Fisher King" instead.
There ARE rumors Gilliam may attempt Don Q again. If he ever does do it, I am willing to bet a good deal of $$$ it'll be his masterwork.

Done. Back to work.
